A Wedding Day Shaped By Choice, Connection and Joy
ROMANTIC RELAXED WEDDING IN CANTERBURY
Annabelle and James’ wedding in Canterbury was full of intention, connection and joy. One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is seeing how couples choose to create a day that truly reflects them, letting go of expectations and focusing on what feels right. Their day was thoughtful, personal, and naturally full of moments that mattered most. From a handmade wedding dress to relaxed countryside portraits and a music-filled evening where guests were encouraged to join in, their wedding unfolded beautifully.

A Calm Morning & Sunlit Church Ceremony
Annabelle got ready at her family home in Canterbury, choosing a calm, unrushed morning. Instead of traditional getting-ready photos, we took a few relaxed portraits once she was ready. Her dress, handmade by a talented friend was full of care and reflected the people closest to her.
Outside, a classic Morris Minor, perfectly matched in blue to the bridesmaids’ dresses, took the bridal party to the local church, the same church Annabelle attended for school events.

The ceremony was warm and emotional, with sunlight filling the space as Annabelle walked down the aisle with her dad. Guests met them with big cheers, and the confetti throw was joyful, followed by a perfectly imperfect pause when James accidentally inhaled some confetti.

Editorial Wedding Portraits
One of the things couples often tell me is how relaxed yet refined my photography feels. This is something I’ve developed over years, creating portraits that feel natural, effortless, and considered. Most of the day is photographed with a documentary approach, allowing moments to unfold naturally. But when there are portraits or moments that benefit from a little guidance, this is where I step in. Gentle prompts, space to move, and connection ensure images feel authentic without ever being forced.
For Annabelle and James, their portraits were calm and modern. Soft light, open countryside, and space to breathe together created images that were thoughtful, relaxed, and completely reflective of who they are.

A Vineyard Reception & Golden Hour Light
The reception took place at a hilltop vineyard with stunning views. As the couple arrived, the clouds parted, letting golden sunlight flood the space. We captured some formal group photos, shooting into the sun to make sure everyone wasn't having to squint.
Speeches followed, full of warmth, humour, and stories of love before a sit down meal.

Later in the evening, we took a quiet moment for golden hour portraits, a highlight Annabelle had requested during our location visit. These portraits captured them calmly together, giving space to reflect and connect amid the day’s bustle.

A Music-Filled Evening of Community
The evening celebration unfolded with music, laughter, and communal energy. Guests were encouraged to sing, play instruments, and join in. One personal highlight was seeing James perform on stage with Josh and Chiron, whom I’ve photographed at their own weddings. A full-circle moment. The night ended with a cake cut and a packed dance floor under the beautiful tent, providing a welcoming space throughout the celebration.

A Joyful Wedding in Canterbury
Annabelle and James’ wedding in Canterbury shows how meaningful a day can be when you follow your own path and surround yourself with the people who matter most.
If you’re planning a wedding in Canterbury or beyond and are looking for a photographer who lets your day unfold naturally while capturing authentic, thoughtful portraits, I’d love to hear from you.
KIND WORDS FROM ANNABELLE & JAMES
We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better wedding photographer!
From start to finish, Kezia was absolutely brilliant — so understanding of what we wanted and really took the time to make sure everything was perfect.
On the day itself, she captured every special moment beautifully, right through to the evening celebrations.During the ceremony, we barely even noticed she was there — yet she somehow managed to get the most amazing, natural photos that truly tell the story of our day.
Her calm, friendly approach made us and our guests feel completely at ease, and the end results are just stunning. We’ll treasure these photos forever.
Thank you so much for everything!
