How I Show Up On Your Wedding Day
ROMANTIC ALTERNATIVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM
Choosing a wedding photographer isn’t just about how the photos look, it’s about how it feels to have them with you on one of the most personal days of your life.
So instead of listing packages or talking about gear, I want to share how I personally show up on a wedding day, especially for couples who value connection, calm, and being able to fully be themselves.
I Mostly Observe and Capture Moments as They Happen
My approach to wedding photography is rooted in observation. I spend most of the day quietly watching, anticipating moments, and documenting things as they naturally unfold.
This means:
-
real reactions instead of staged ones
-
laughter that isn’t prompted
-
emotion that isn’t interrupted
I don’t direct every moment or pull you away constantly. Instead, I give your day space to breathe, so your photos feel honest and true to how it actually felt to be there.
This documentary style approach is especially loved by couples who don’t want to perform for the camera or feel like they’re following a script.

Gentle Guidance When You Need It
While I mostly observe, I’m never hands-off. This is where the editorial mix steps in. For example, if there is particually beautiful light and you have a moment to breathe I will get you to step in the light.
I’m always there when:
-
you’re unsure what to do next
-
something feels overwhelming
-
you want a bit of reassurance or grounding
For couple portraits, I offer gentle prompts rather than rigid poses, things that help you settle into each other, move naturally, and forget about the camera being there.
Think guidance, not direction.

A Calm, Supportive Presence
One of the most common things couples tell me after their wedding is how calm they felt to have me around. That’s intentional.
Weddings can be emotional, busy, and full on. My role isn’t just to take photos (which can be a contraversial view) it’s to help the day feel smoother, quieter where it needs to be, and supported without being intrusive.
I notice when you need a pause. I create space when things feel intense and I step in when it’s helpful but step back when it’s not.

So You Can Just Be Yourselves
Everything I do on a wedding day is so you don’t have to think about the photography.
No pressure to perform.
No need to know how to pose.
No expectation to be anything other than yourselves.
Whether your wedding is under trees, in a pub, a gallery space, a vineyard, or somewhere completely non traditional, my aim is always the same: to document your connection, your people, and the atmosphere you’ve created and leave you with a gallery you will love forever.

Is This the Right Kind of Wedding Photography for You?
If you’re looking for a wedding photographer who:
-
works in a relaxed, documentary way with editorial mix
-
values connection over perfection
-
supports you without directing your entire day
-
and lets moments unfold naturally
then there’s a good chance we’ll be a great fit.
I capture weddings across London, Surrey, Suffolk and wherever your celebration of love takes me, working with couples who want their day to feel like theirs and not a template.

If This Feels Right, I’d Love to Hear From You
If this approach resonates with you, you can get in touch to tell me a bit about your plans, what matters most to you, and what you’re hoping for.
No pressure. Just a conversation.
