A Small Wedding That Centred On What Matters Most:
Love, Family and Being Fully Present.
On a warm Saturday in May I had the joy of documenting a micro wedding that felt anything but small.
Kathryn and Shoumo tied the knot in a relaxing heartfelt celebration that took us from Bury St Edmunds
registry office to the sun dappled Abby Gardens and finally to a long table feast at the Weeping Willow pub in Barrow, Suffolk.
Arriving In Style: A Registry Office Wedding With Energy
I arrived early outside Bury St Edmunds registry office waiting as guests began to gather.
Then came Kathryn and Shoumo, striding confidently towards me, each holding a vase of flowers side by side.
There was something beautifully balanced and grounded in that moment, no fuss, no flurry, just the two of them arriving hand in hand.
Inside they walked down the aisle together which is something I always love when it happens.
Surrounded by loved ones. Though a smaller number of guests, the energy was anything but quiet.
There were cheers, joyful applause and a clear sense that everyone there was fully present in this union.
The joy and energy joined them outside among the next wedding party waiting for their celebrations.
Group Photos and Couple P ortraits in Abbey Gardens: A First Time Full of Wonder
After the ceremony we wandered across the road to Abbey Gardens for group photos and couple portraits.
Neither of them had visited before which made it all the more special discovering it for the first time on their wedding day together.
There was a beautiful spontaneity to it all, candid laughter, warm sunshine and even a brief moment where Shoumo considered climbing a tree.
I love this photo of them snapping a selfie within the group. It was silly, sweet and perfectly unscripted.
That's the magic of micro weddings, a space for the little moments to shine!
Romantic, Creative Wedding Photography in Abbey Gardens, Suffolk
One of my favourite parts of the day is taking the couple off so they have a moment together and capture some photos together among nature.
Pub Garden Vibes: The Weeping Willow For A Micro Wedding
Guests made their way to the reception venue in Barrow, Suffolk while we stayed behind for a few more quiet moments for couple portrait time.
The venue itself was lush and relaxed with a stunning willow tree and garden behind the pub.
Inside a long table set the tone for a family Style Celebration.
The kids quickly found their groove of coloring books and connect four.
We finished off the rest of the group photos here under the willow tree.
The Details Made It Theirs.
From candid moments around the table to the final couple portraits in the pub garden,
everything about Kathryn and Shoumo’s wedding felt grounded, personal and true to them.
We finished the day with a quick polaroid snap to mark the moment for both them and for me.
A tiny analog keepsake for a big day done simply beautifully.
They celebrated further in France the following week. And I can't wait to reunite with them
in August for their wedding party, but this quiet joy filled Suffolk celebration will stick with me for a long time.
